We are currently seeking a Director, Plant Operations, to join our team in Manchester, TN.

Your Role at Batesville:

As Director, Plant Operations, you will be responsible for leading manufacturing operations through a team of managers, providing overall direction to all manufacturing departments. This role is accountable for end-to-end plant performance, including safety, throughput, cost, and culture, and is expected to deliver measurable results across a cross-functional manufacturing organization. The Director ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable government regulations; enforces company directives and safety standards; oversees departmental expense budgets; drives training and productivity improvements; and maintains compliance with the company’s quality system. Decisions are guided by functional strategies and business priorities.

  • The expected base salary range for this role is $ 155,000 – $195,000 per year. Actual compensation within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, skills, experience, and location.

What You’ll Do:

  • Accountable for overall plant performance and related support functions, including delivery to plan, customer service, operating budget management, and cost and efficiency improvement initiatives that maintain safety and quality
  • Conducts daily operations meetings and routinely scheduled departmental meetings
  • Monitor operating metrics and lead data-driven problem solving, root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives to improve safety and quality, reduce cost, and increase productivity
  • Ensure proper protection of all company assets
  • Assure that customer needs are met by monitoring production output compared to plan
  • Lead, coach and develop a cross-functional team while fostering an collaborative, high-performance culture built on accountability, transparency, and continuous learning
  • Present operational performance, risks, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership on a regular cadence.
  • Own the plant operating budget; identify and deliver cost-reduction and efficiency improvement opportunities without compromising safety or quality
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Commercial teams to support new product introductions and accommodate demand changes

 What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related technical field; six to eight years of progressive manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong proven leadership capabilities, prior supervisory experience is a requirement
  • Ability to direct solutions of highly complex business problems
  • Proven ability to effectively manage supply chain and ensure all aspects are optimized
  • Ability to direct, motivate, and manage direct reports and cross functional teams
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems
  • Possess analytical, logical, and strategic thinking skills
  • Demonstrated track record of improving safety, quality, cost and delivery metrics in a complex manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of JD Edwards
  • Understanding of lean principles and problem solving techniques
  • Familiar with manufacturing systems, material flow, and associated processes
  • Familiar with Six Sigma and/or principles in statistical control
  • Metal Fabrication / Industry Knowledge
  • CPSM, APICS, or similar professional organization member relating to supply chain management
  • Formal Lean training

Travel

Associate must be able to travel 20 % of the time.
