We are currently seeking a Retail Merchant to join our team within commuting distance of Batesville, Indiana. The role is primarily remote, requiring in-office attendance on an as-needed basis.
Your Role at Batesville:
As a Retail Merchant, you will be responsible for driving the strategy and execution of our merchandising experience and tools to deliver value added solutions that maximize business results including profit and mix. This position will lead the teams responsible for selling, implementing, and maintaining our retail offering to meet our emerging and dynamic customer needs. This position will be responsible for the execution of the tactics to capitalize on our market potential and to meet revenue and profitability objectives. The Retail Merchant will be the company’s subject matter expert on merchandising and merchandising principles to drive execution across the business.

What You’ll Do:
- Build the strategy roadmap for the physical customer selection experience within the Funeral Home.
- Demonstrate expertise with respect to relevant markets, retail strategies and competition.
- Collaborate with CX Leader to ensure synergies between physical and digital solutions.
- Lead merchandising team effort that provides consultative leadership to sales representatives and customers and implement, monitor, and adjust merchandising programs, platforms, displays, and tools that increase customer profitability.
- Build tools to support merchandising recommendations for sales and marketing teams.
- Assist in creation of marketing tools to provide sales the appropriate mix of products based on customer preference, market trends, and business goals.
- Analyze sales data and performance metrics to identify trends, evaluate product performance, and make data-driven decisions.
- Manage vendor relationships from a business need perspective.
- Manage the design and execution process for physical spaces for FH customers including room layout, part ordering, fulfillment, and build processes.
- Review KPI Performance and present in executive management team meetings monthly.
- Continuously improve the way Batesville is using merchandising experiences and analytics to enhance business performance.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company policies, the Code of Ethical Business Conduct, and applicable laws; including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Marketing, communications, or business administration; and a minimum of 5 years related sales, marketing, or project management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Deep understanding of all product lines.
- Experience in Product Marketing, Marketing Strategy, Go-To-Market execution, Digital Products, eCommerce, Partnerships and Pricing.
- Experience developing impactful, successful launch and adoption strategies for products and merchandising solutions.
- Experience leading large cross-functional projects with great complexity and scope while consistently executing on time in a pressure driven environment.
- Staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
- Ability to effectively convey marketing messages, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and build relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Analytical skills to annualize sales data and market trends.
Nice to Haves:
- Strong sense of merchandising principals with understanding how visual merchanting impacts overall sales.
- Vision and leadership skills to evolve team as merchandising changes to drive team output and alignment.
