We are currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in Batesville, IN.
The position requires being onsite for 3-4 days each week, with the option to work remotely 1-2 days per week.
Your Role at Batesville:
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing projects, aligned with our philosophy of Lean manufacturing. This position is responsible for effective completion of multi-site projects aimed at lowering costs or improving processes and quality. You will provide engineering support to the entire Batesville Supply Chain (operations and logistics) to drive improvements in areas of safety, quality, cost and delivery.

What You’ll Do:
- Project implementation
- Act as project manager for strategic sourcing, product redesign and process improvement projects
- Organize, develop and execute project timelines and deliverables
- Change management
- Present and manage product and process change proposals
- Make recommendations regarding specifications for parts/products
- Conduct trials and tests to support the approval of products and processes
- Capital projects
- Prepare capital funds requests
- Manage capital projects and budgets
- Improvement opportunities
- Identify opportunities for improvements in products and/or processes
- Assist with the financial analysis and feasibility studies of proposed changes
- Participate in and lead benchmarking opportunities and idea generation events
- Design and engineering principles
- Understand and execute principles of design and engineering philosophies
- Read, analyze and develop part prints
- Assure system and product quality by executing testing methods
- Collect and interpret data through research and measurement
- Lean business principals
- Lead and participate in CI events and other Lean initiatives company-wide
- Follow Lean principles and practices
- Other duties may be assigned
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a college or university in engineering or related field; and three to six years related engineering experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Experience in AutoCAD
- Familiarity with LEAN principles and problem-solving techniques including value stream mapping, A3’s, 5S, 3P, time observations and standardization
- Functional knowledge of FMEA process
- Familiarity with Six Sigma and/or principles in statistical control
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
Nice to Haves:
- Direct experience in the applicable industry
- Experience with Statistical Software Packages
- Knowledge of JD Edwards or similar ERP system
- Metal fabrication / industry knowledge
- Wood processing / fabrication / industry knowledge
