Your Role at Batesville:

As a Systems Administrator, Linux & Cloud Services, you will be an expert in Linux server administration, Cloudflare management, WAF (Web Application Firewall) configuration and maintenance, and Cloud services. The ideal candidate will also have strong experience with virtual machine (VM) management and be able to support our IT infrastructure, ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our systems. This position will also play a critical role in maintaining a secure, efficient, and reliable IT environment across our cloud and on-premises infrastructure.

What You’ll Do:

  • Linux Server Administration:
    • Install, configure, and manage Linux-based servers (CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat, etc.)
    • Perform routine system updates, patching, and monitoring.
    • Troubleshoot performance issues and implement solutions for optimization and stability.
    • Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for Linux environments.
  • Cloudflare Management:
    • Configure and maintain Cloudflare DNS, caching, and traffic management services.
    • Build and manage Cloudflare WAF (Web Application Firewall) to enhance security.
    • Monitor and mitigate DDoS attacks, ensuring optimal website performance and security.
    • Optimize security features such as SSL/TLS, HTTP/2, and rate limiting for secure access.
  • WAF Configuration & Maintenance:
    • Configure, maintain, and update Web Application Firewalls (WAF).
    • Monitor incoming traffic and create rules to block malicious activity.
    • Partner with development teams to fine-tune security policies without affecting legitimate traffic.
  • Cloud Services & Virtual Machine Management:
    • Deploy, manage, and optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, etc.).
    • Establish and manage virtual machines (VMs) on hypervisors such as VMware, KVM, or cloud environments.
    • Observe resource usage (CPU, memory, disk) and make recommendations for scaling or cost optimization.
    • Manage cloud-based services like databases, storage, and security solutions.
  • Automation & Scripting:
    • Develop automation scripts (Bash, Python, Ansible, etc.) to streamline server configuration and management tasks.
    • Automate repetitive tasks and implement configuration management solutions.
  • Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Implement and monitor performance and security using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or Grafana.
    • Create detailed reports on system performance, incidents, and security events.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Confirm security best practices are implemented across all systems and networks.
    • Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments, working to mitigate identified risks.
    • Assist in maintaining compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Collaboration & Support:
    • Work closely with development, network, and security teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure components.
    • Provide Level 2 and 3 support for server-related incidents and service requests.
    • Document system configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or Computer Programming; and a minimum of 5 - 7 years related Web/Software Development experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in Web/SAAS hosting environment management.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Linux server administration experience (CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat, etc.) required.
  • Strong experience managing Cloudflare, including DNS, caching, and security features.
  • Proven expertise in configuring and managing Web Application Firewalls (WAF).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, etc.).
  • Proficiency in managing virtual machines (VMs) using hypervisors such as VMware or KVM.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Bash, Python, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, security best practices, and troubleshooting.
  • Possession of strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to security and infrastructure management.

Nice To Haves:

  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools.
  • Knowledge of IT compliance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Comparable experience with Windows server environments.
